2016-17 Extra Virgin Olive Oils

With even less rain in 2016 than the previous season, the resulting fruit yields were well below average with our Picual and Leccino trees shutting down massively.

Fortunately, the Frantoio continued to give, and the Arbequina also surprised us.  The results are the Tuscan blend is dominated by our Frantoio fruit and the Spanish Blend by Arbequina.

The oils, however, are striking.  The Spanish blend is notably softer and sweeter than in previous seasons, whereas the Tuscan blend stands out as a great example of an Italian inspired oil.  The Tuscan blend is the stronger of the two oils and displays its fruity and spicy characteristics very nicely.
