That wasn’t our only entry into the show, in fact we entered 11 oils and claimed 4 gold medals. Gold medals were awarded to our Masons Creek Estate Blend, Masons Creek Corregiola, Mt Moriac Estate Spanish and of course the Bundara View Koroneiki.
Our Masons Creek Estate blend is a 50/50 of Frantoio and Corregiola, with judges describing it
"Fresh, clean, moderately intense aroma of green almonds, lemon, eucalyptus, cut grass, hay and cinnamon. Good transfer with sweet notes of tropical fruit and ripe banana in the mouth. Texture is well rounded and balanced. Harmonious, complex, and multidimensional. Moderate bitterness and building chilli pungency. Good persistence."
The single varietal of Corregiola presented a completely different flavour profile.
"Fresh savoury aromas. Green banana, peppermint, green tea, sweet almond, green apple, green bean, and banana cake mix. Transfers well with additional chestnut, potato, Greek basil, lavender, and sorrel. Clean creamy full mouthfeel. Green peppercorn heat that lingers with robust red chilli pungency. Complex and harmonious with long lingering green finish. A combination of fruity, nutty, herbal, and spicy elements that create a diverse and harmonious tasting experience."
Our Mt Moriac Spanish is a blend of Picual and Arbequina and has been one of our most popular oils for a long period of time.
"A vibrant fragrant nose of dark leafy greens, fig leaf, tomato vine, tomato, sweet apple, and celery transfers to an equally interesting palate with satsuma plum, pear, coconut, green leaves, and citrus blossom that is harmonious and balanced. Lovely mouthfeel. Lingering chilli peppercorn heat that evenly builds with a generous complexity and smooth finish."
It’s easy to feel a little underwhelmed with a gold medal after taking out so many trophies with our Koroneiki, but we are still very pleased with these results. It shows that we are producing great oils consistently across a number of the different groves we manage in different areas of the Greater Geelong Region.

What better way to kick off our first post than to share our results from the Australian International Olive Awards which were held in Canberra last week. Producers from all over the country and internationally came together to celebrate the season that was and showcase their amazing olive products.
The awards are recognised as an industry benchmark both here in Australia and globally.
Our Bundara View Koroneiki was an absolute standout claiming the most prestigious award of BEST IN SHOW. It also took out best in class, best in state, country and southern hemisphere.
Bundara View is situated within the rolling hills of the Golden Plains of Western Victoria, along the Leigh River Valley. The two main plantings being Koroneiki and Taggiasca.
Prior to the harvest this year we put a lot of effort into pruning the grove and getting the trees to an optimal size for mechanical shaking. Opening up the canopy and promoting growth proved beneficial as we had an impressive crop with above average oil yield.
Like most other producers, our harvest season was a lot later than usual and this grove was harvested in mid July, which was the optimal time for this fruit and part of the reason the oil was of outstanding quality.
We ensure the fruit comes straight from the tree to the processing plant to be pressed in no time at all.
The judges described it as having 'interesting aromas of pink grapefruit, pink lemonade, green apple peel and tropical fruits.... long flavoursome length with plenty of fruit and flavour." And we agree!
We were absolutely humbled to receive such amazing results and we will continue to strive for the very best when it comes to local, quality produce.
